How to Decorate With Rose Hips

Rose hips, which flourish in the fall, are the fruits of rose plants. You can use stems of vibrant red and orange rose hips to create harvest-inspired autumn arrangements. Use colorful rose hip arrangements as table decorations for Thanksgiving dinner parties and other fall festivities. Design a festive bouquet using other natural autumn-inspired touches. Recycle a rustic container or vintage vessel into a creative, country-inspired vase. A rose hip arrangement is the ideal way to add a pop of color to an otherwise plain party table.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase or choose a vessel in which to display the rose hip arrangement. Pick a burnished gold or pewter urn-style vessel for a country-inspired look. Go with a large vintage milk glass vase for an elegant style.

    • 2

Cut a block of floral foam to fit the vessel, using a craft knife. Fill a wide, shallow bowl with cool water. Place the foam inside the bowl, allowing it to absorb the water.

    • 3

Place the water-soaked foam in the bottom of the vessel.

    • 4

Choose other decor items to complement the rose hips in the arrangement. Pick stems of autumn-hued leaves, green eucalyptus branches, and sprigs of red and orange berries.

    • 5

Cut the stems and branches of the rose hips and decor items with florist scissors so they fit the vessel. Make sure the pieces are twice the height of the vessel.

    • 6

Insert the rose hips, leaf stems, eucalyptus branches and berry twigs into the floral foam to create a full arrangement.
