Faux White Phalaenopsis Orchids

Some people call the white phalaenopsis the moth orchid. At night, it seems to glow and its shape resembles a moth in flight. Their graceful beauty makes them desirable for home décor, but they require specific care. As an alternative, choose faux orchids, as they are convincing and are everlasting. Display them in any setting without the worry of loosing your expensive live plant to the elements. Your faux arrangement is permanent and only needs an occasional dusting.
  1. Potted Faux Phalaenopsis

    • An earthenware planter displaying faux white phalaenopsis is an attractive accent for your room. Purchase a silk phalaenopsis that includes leaves. Hot glue florist's green plastic foam inside a 6-inch terra cotta planter. Add hot glue to the bottom of your silk plant and attach it to the plastic foam. Cover the exposed green foam by gluing sheet moss around the plant.

    Wreath

    • Use faux white phalaenopsis orchids to decorate your front door. Purchase a plain grapevine wreath. Hot glue sheet moss to the front of the wreath. Cover the front of the wreath with moss or leave some of vines exposed. Arrange green leaves on the front of the wreath in a pleasing design and glue them into place. Add a large florist's bow to the 8 o'clock position on the wreath. Cut the stems of your faux orchids short and glue them above the bow. Hide the ends of the stems under the ribbon and position the orchids so they are flat against the moss.

    Hair Clip

    • Enjoying the look of fresh orchids pinned to your hair is an easy project. Purchase a plain flat hair clip or barrette a few inches long. Cut two or three faux phalaenopsis blossoms from their stem. Hot glue them to the hair clip covering the metal or plastic surface. For a ponytail, attach a single orchid to your elastic hair band.

    Arrangement in a Vase

    • Bring attention to a small space by highlighting a simple arrangement in a vase. Choose a tall, slender clear glass vase. Fill it 2/3 full with iridescent clear marbles. Insert three stems of faux white phalaenopsis orchids into the center of the marbles. Bend the stems slightly so that they look natural. You can display this piece on a small, mirrored tile, if desired.
