How to Make a Knit Pencil Ruffle Skirt

* Worsted weight yarn (I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in "Charcoal")

* Size 8 knitting needles

* Tapestry needle

* Scissors

Gauge

Stockinette stitch: 4 stitches per inch

Instructions

Cast on 100 stitches

Work in stockinette stitch for 12 inches

Bind off all stitches

Sew the side seams together

Fold the bottom hem up 1 inch and sew in place

Attach a 1-inch wide ribbon to the waistband to create a ruffle. Thread the ribbon through a gathering stitch 1/2 inch from the top of the waistband. Pull the ribbon to gather the waistband and sew in place.
