Measure your selected window frame and record the height and width measurements. Use the measurements to cut a piece of ½ inch thick plywood the same size as the window frame.
Place a drop cloth down to cover the work surface and prevent unwanted paint splatter. Place the window frame onto the drop cloth. Sand the frame using fine grit sandpaper to help remove its original finish. Sand with the grain of the wood using short, even strokes. Use a clean cloth to wipe away any debris left behind by sanding.
Prime the window frame using a spray primer. Spray the window frames with the primer using long, even strokes to create a thin coat of primer. Allow the primer to dry completely.
Choose a spray paint that complements your personal style, décor and your home’s color scheme. Paint the window frame with the spray paint using long, even strokes. Avoid applying the paint too thickly which may cause drips. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Place the plywood sheet on a flat work surface. Cover the plywood’s surface with white silicone glue appropriate for wood and glass. Choose a mirror about ½ inch smaller than the window frame on all sides. Center the mirror on the plywood backing. Press down to create a tight seal. Apply painter’s tape to all edges of the mirror, sealing it to the wood. Allow it to dry for 24 to 48 hours.
Remove the painter’s tape from the glued-down mirror. Place the window frame over the mirror to center the frame. The window frame should extend beyond the edge of the mirror about ½ inch, allowing you to create an even seal with the plywood backing. Remove the window frame and cover the edges of the mirror and the plywood backing with glue.
Put the window frame back in place and press down to create a tight seal. Tape the frame to the mirror using painter’s tape and allow the glue to dry and set up for 24 to 48 hours.
Turn the dry, glued window frame mirror over. Carefully screw two mug hooks into the back of the plywood. Attach a mug hook about 1-½ inch from the top in the right top corner. Repeat in the left corner. Ensure the two mug hooks are level with one another and the opening faces down. String the hooks with heavy-duty picture wire to allow the mirror to be hung on the wall.
