How to Anneal Copper Tubing

Materials:

- Copper tubing

- Propane torch

- Metal shears or tubing cutter

- Safety goggles

- Heat-resistant gloves

- Fire extinguisher

Instructions:

1. Cut the copper tubing to the desired length. Use metal shears or a tubing cutter to make a clean, square cut.

2.Wear eye protection. Always wear safety goggles when working with open flames.

3. Put on heat-resistant gloves. These gloves will protect your hands from the heat of the torch.

4. Light the propane torch. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for lighting the torch.

5. Adjust the flame to a neutral setting. The flame should be blue with a slight yellow tip.

6. Hold the copper tubing in the flame. Move the tubing slowly through the flame, so that it is heated evenly.

7.Anneal the copper tubing until it is glowing red. This will take approximately 1-2 minutes.

8. Turn off the torch and let the copper tubing cool. Allow the tubing to cool completely before handling it.

Tips:

- Be careful not to overheat the copper tubing. If the tubing becomes too hot, it will become brittle and may crack.

- If you are annealing copper tubing for a specific application, be sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for annealing temperature and time.

Annealing copper tubing is a relatively simple process, but it is important to take safety precautions to avoid injury.
