How to Make Wire Baskets

* ### Wire: You can use any type of wire, but galvanized wire or aluminum wire is a good choice. The best choice is welding rods of 10 or 12 gauge that are available in 36" lengths at hardware stores.

Instructions

1. Cut the wire. Cut the wire into pieces that are twice the length of the sides of your basket. For example, if you want to make a basket with sides that are 6 inches long, you would cut the wire into 12-inch pieces.

2. Bend the wire. Bend each piece of wire in half so that the two ends are parallel to each other.

3. Make the base of the basket. Place four pieces of wire next to each other so that the ends are overlapping. Use the pliers to twist the ends of the wire together to secure them. This will form the base of the basket.

4. Add the sides of the basket. Place two more pieces of wire next to the base of the basket so that the ends are overlapping. Twist the ends of the wire together to secure them. Repeat this step until you have added all of the sides of the basket.

5. Add the handle of the basket. Cut a piece of wire that is twice the length of the width of the basket. Bend the wire in half so that the two ends are parallel to each other. Place the wire over the top of the basket and twist the ends of the wire together to secure them.

6. Shape the basket. Use your hands to shape the basket into the desired shape. You can make the basket round, square, or any other shape you like.

7. Trim the wire. Use the wire cutters to trim any excess wire.

8. Enjoy your new wire basket! You can use your wire basket to store a variety of items, such as fruits, vegetables, toys, or clothes.
