1. Measure the circumference of your head: Hold a measuring tape around your head, just above eyebrows, to determine the circumference of your head. Add one inch to the measurement.
2. Cut out the main rectangle: Based on the measurement, cut out a cardboard rectangle that is twice as tall and twice as wide as your adjusted measurement.
3. Cut the half-circles: Cut two identical half-circles that are wide enough to cover your ears.
4. Cut out visor: Use the craft knife to cut a thin, curved visor at the bottom edge of the main rectangle.
5. Assemble the helmet: Using the hot glue, attach the visor to the front edge of the main rectangle. Next, glue the half-circles onto the sides of the rectangle to create the ear flaps.
6. Fold and glue: fold the top edge of the main rectangle down by one inch and glue in place.
7. Cut the strips: Cut two long, thin strips of cardboard that are long enough to wrap around the base of the helmet and meet at the top.
8. Form the headband: Glue one end of each strip to the inside of the ear flap and wrap them around the base of the helmet. Overlap the strips and hot glue them together at the top.
9. Paint the helmet: Paint the entire helmet with black acrylic paint. Let it dry completely.
10. Add decorations: Add any desired decorative items like feathers, studs, beads, etc. to your helmet.
- To make the helmet more durable, you can seal the cardboard with a coat of clear varnish or Mod Podge.
- You can cover the helmet with thin cardboard or cloth if you want a smoother surface.
- Add padding inside the helmet for a more comfortable fit.
- If you want to make a more realistic-looking helmet, you can use craft foam to create intricate details like the cheek guards, chin strap, and nasal guard.
