How to Sew a Double Pot Holder

## Supplies

* (2) 1/2 yard pieces of fabric

* 1/2 yard of batting

* Thread

* Sewing machine

* Scissors

* Rotary cutter and mat (optional)

* Iron

Instructions

Step 1: Cut the Fabric

Fabric: Cut (2) 18" x 12" rectangles.

Batting: Cut (1) 18" x 12" rectangle.

Step 2: Sew the Batting to One Fabric Piece

Place one fabric piece, right side up, on your work surface. Center the batting rectangle on top of the fabric, and then place the second fabric piece, right side down, on top of the batting.

Sew around the entire perimeter of the pot holder, using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave a 4-inch opening for turning.

Step 3: Trim the Corners and Turn Right Side Out

Trim the corners of the pot holder, being careful not to cut through the stitches. Turn the pot holder right side out through the opening.

Step 4: Press the Pot Holder

Press the pot holder flat, making sure to press the corners well.

Step 5: Sew the Opening Closed

Hand-sew the opening closed using a slip stitch or ladder stitch.

Step 6: Add a Hanging Loop (Optional)

Cut a 12" strip of fabric. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and press. Sew the raw edges together, using a 1/4" seam allowance.

Attach the hanging loop to the pot holder by sewing it to the top center of the pot holder, using a 1/4" seam allowance.

Your double pot holder is now finished!
