How to Make a Homemade King Triton Costume

## Materials

* Purple fabric (at least 2 yards)

* Gold fabric (at least 1 yard)

* White fabric (at least 1/2 yard)

* Red felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Yellow felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Green felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Blue felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Orange felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Brown felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Black felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* White felt (at least 1/4 yard)

* Gold trim (at least 10 yards)

* Purple trim (at least 5 yards)

* Red trim (at least 3 yards)

* Yellow trim (at least 3 yards)

* Green trim (at least 3 yards)

* Blue trim (at least 3 yards)

* Orange trim (at least 3 yards)

* Brown trim (at least 3 yards)

* White trim (at least 3 yards)

* Purple pom-poms (at least 12)

* Gold ribbon (at least 1 yard)

* White ribbon (at least 1 yard)

* Red ribbon (at least 1/2 yard)

* Yellow ribbon (at least 1/2 yard)

* Green ribbon (at least 1/2 yard)

* Blue ribbon (at least 1/2 yard)

Instructions

1. Cut out the pieces for the costume.

* From the purple fabric, cut out:

* one rectangle for the body (36 inches wide by 42 inches long)

* two rectangles for the sleeves (12 inches wide by 18 inches long)

* one circle for the head (24 inches in diameter)

* two circles for the cuffs (6 inches in diameter)

* From the gold fabric, cut out:

* one rectangle for the trim (12 inches wide by 2 yards long)

* From the white fabric, cut out:

* two rectangles for the collar (6 inches wide by 18 inches long)

* two rectangles for the cuffs (4 inches wide by 6 inches long)

* one circle for the beard (12 inches in diameter)

* From the red felt, cut out:

* one triangle for the nose (2 inches wide by 3 inches long)

* two circles for the cheeks (1 inch in diameter)

* From the yellow felt, cut out:

* two circles for the eyes (1 inch in diameter)

* From the green felt, cut out:

* two leaves for the crown (6 inches wide by 8 inches long)

* From the blue felt, cut out:

* two waves for the crown (6 inches wide by 8 inches long)

* From the orange felt, cut out:

* two stars for the crown (6 inches wide by 8 inches long)

* From the brown felt, cut out:

* two rectangles for the seaweed (6 inches wide by 18 inches long)

* two circles for the shell (6 inches in diameter)

* From the black felt, cut out:

* two eyebrows for the beard (1 inch wide by 3 inches long)

* From the white felt, cut out:

* two circles for the beard (6 inches in diameter)

2. Assemble the body of the costume.

* With right sides together, sew the shoulder seams of the body rectangle.

* Turn the body piece right side out.

* Sew the side seams of the body piece.

* Hem the bottom of the body piece.

* Sew the sleeves to the body piece.

3. Assemble the headpiece.

* With right sides together, sew the head circle in half.

* Turn the headpiece right side out.

* Stuff the headpiece with batting.

* Sew the cuffs to the headpiece.

* Sew the trim around the headpiece.

4. Assemble the collar.

* With right sides together, sew the short ends of the collar rectangles.

* Turn the collar pieces right side out.

* Sew the long ends of the collar pieces together.

* Sew the collar to the neck of the body piece.

5. Assemble the cuffs.

* With right sides together, sew the short ends of the cuff rectangles.

* Turn the cuffs right side out.

* Sew the long ends of the cuffs together.

* Sew the cuffs to the sleeves of the body piece.

6. Add the details to the costume.

* Glue the leaves, waves, and stars to the crown.

* Glue the pom-poms to the crown.

* Glue the nose and cheeks to the beard.

* Glue the eyebrows to the beard.

* Glue the beard to the face of the headpiece.

* Sew the ribbon around the waist of the body piece.

* Sew the bow to the front of the body piece.

* Glue the seaweed to the sides of the body piece.

* Glue the shell to the front of the body piece.

7. Wear the costume and enjoy!

Tips

* If you don't have a plastic crown, you can make one out of papier-mâché or cardboard.

* If you don't have a trident, you can make one out of PVC pipe or wood.

* If you don't want to wear a beard, you can skip that step.
