Decorating Ideas for Orange & Pink Rooms

Decorating with orange and pink, may not be your choice of colors. However, if these are the colors you have to work with, you have plenty of ideas to choose from. Think first about who the room is for, whether for a child, a teenager or an adult. You also need to take into consideration what the room will be used for.
  1. Painting

    • Use decorative painting techniques to give the walls some decoration over just plain paint. Rag rolling and sponging techniques allow you to use more than one color paint. Paint the wall with your base coat or orange or pink and then use the decorative painting with the second color over top. Stenciling in another option you have when it comes to decorative painting techniques. Use your orange or pink for the base color and then paint the stencils in the other color. Use stencils as guides or stencil freehand if you desire.

    Plants

    • Pink and orange are the colors of many summer flowers. Bring these flowers inside as decorations for the room. Make seasonal arrangements of real flowers with all hues of pink and orange. Use greenery within the arrangement to break up the pink and the orange a little bit. Tying a white ribbon around the vase will also help to add to the decoration. Use both large and small arrangements, placing them around the room in appropriate places, such as on tables or in front of windows.

    Furniture Accessories

    • Choose furniture accessories that complement the pink and orange, especially if those colors are on the walls. Use pillows or blankets to accent the pink and orange, but use either lighter or darker shades of pink and orange. For example, if the walls are dark pink and orange, use pillows that are a little lighter in color. Quilts draped over chairs and sofas can add to the décor and be useful. A quilt allows you to choose many different colors and prints all in one piece.

    Other Colors

    • Don't be afraid to mix in items with other colors as well. Blues and greens go particularly well in a room full of pink and orange. The addition of other bright colors, such as in the curtains or the accessories will help to highlight your main colors and make the room look festive and inviting. To tone down the room, choose shades of other colors that are not so bright. A pale blue or green would work well with pale pink and orange. If you want stark contrast, choose decorating items that are black.
