Materials:
- Faux-fur fabric, approximately 1.5 yards
- Felt (for facial features and ears)
- Fabric scissors
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Stuffing (such as polyester fill)
Instructions:
1. Cut out the following pieces from felt:
- 2 Oval ear shapes (approximately 4" high x 3" wide)
- 1 Nose triangle (approximately 1.5" high x 1" wide)
- 2 Mouth pieces (approximately 1" high x 2" wide each)
2. Cut out a rectangle of faux-fur fabric approximately 30" wide by 48" long.
3. Fold the rectangle in half lengthwise, with the right sides together.
4. Sew the two long sides of the rectangle together, using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave the short ends open.
5. Turn the fur tube right side out.
6. Stuff the fur tube with stuffing, starting at the bottom. Fill it loosely, so that the costume is not too bulky.
7. Sew the short ends of the fur tube together, using a 1/4" seam allowance.
8. Cut a small hole in the center of one of the ear pieces and insert the top of the tube. Sew the ear securely in place. Repeat this process with the other ear piece.
9. Glue or sew the nose and mouth pieces to the front of the costume, centered and spaced as desired.
10. To make the hood, cut a rectangle of faux fur fabric approximately 20" high x 36" wide.
11. Fold the rectangle in half lengthwise, with the right sides together.
12. Sew the two long sides of the rectangle together, using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave the short ends open.
13. Turn the hood right side out.
14. Sew the short ends of the hood together, using a 1/4" seam allowance.
15. Attach the hood to the costume by sewing it along the top edge, centered and spaced as desired.
