Goodnight Moon Bedroom Ideas

"Goodnight Moon" is a well known children's book written by Margaret Wise Brown. The heavily illustrated book is a simple one about a rabbit saying goodnight to all of the things found in his room. Decorate your child's room inspired by "Goodnight Moon" in much the same way as the pictures in the book or in your own, creative way.
  1. Walls and Windows

    • As in the book, paint all of the walls in the bedroom with a rich shade of green and cover the windows with striped green and yellow drapes. If, however, you don't want to decorate the room exactly in the same way as the book, you can switch the design and paint the walls with green and yellow stripes and use green or yellow window treatments. Likewise, walls can be painted yellow, and you can still use the green and yellow stripes for your windows. Furthermore, you can paint an image of a fireplace on one of the walls, just as in the book.

    Bedding

    • The bed in "Goodnight Moon" has white sheets and pillow cases, a green bedspread and a beige blanket. Decorate your room in the same way or create your own combination, such as green sheets and pillow cases, a beige bedspread and a green blanket. Another idea is to do something completely different, such as matching your bedding to the color of your walls or window treatments.

    Furniture

    • Match your furniture exactly to the color of the furniture in the book by decorating with a yellow circular table, book shelf and dresser and a red bed, which matches the color of the floor. However, you can still design a room much in the same way as the room in the book by using all of these furniture pieces but in another color, such as white or natural stained wood finish. Moreover, you can switch the colors by decorating with a red side table, book shelf and dresser and a yellow bed and carpet.

    Accessories

    • Accessorize a room with objects mentioned in the book. Hang a painting or drawing of a cow jumping over a moon on one wall and a painting or a drawing of three little bears sitting on a chair over the bed. Instead of a red balloon over the bed, decorate with a light with a red lampshade. Decorate with a dollhouse in the room; display stuffed bears, kittens and mice; place a brush and a comb on the night table and cover the ceiling with glow-in-the-dark stars, all of which the rabbit in the book bids goodnight.
