How to Fix a Candle Wick

Here are steps on how to fix a candle wick:

Check the wick length: Make sure the wick is about 1/4 inch (6 mm) long. If it's too long, it will produce more smoke and soot. If it's too short, it won't burn properly. Trim the wick if it is overgrown using small scissors or a wick trimmer.

Center the wick: The wick should be centered in the candle. If it is not, the candle may burn unevenly. To correct it, use a pair of tweezers to gently nudge the wick into the center.

Remove any debris: Before lighting the candle, check the wax pool for any debris, such as wick trimmings or dust. Remove any debris to prevent it from catching fire and causing the candle to burn unevenly.

Let the candle burn for at least 3 hours on the first burn: This will allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the container and prevent tunneling, leading to uneven burning in the future.

Do not blow out the candle: To extinguish the candle, use a candle snuffer or dip the wick into the melted wax pool and let it harden. Blowing out the candle can cause the wick to bend or shift off-center, affecting its burn quality.

Re-trim the wick before each burn: Before each lighting, trim the wick back to about 1/4 inch (6 mm). This will help prevent smoke, soot, and uneven burning.

Avoid moving the candle while burning: Keep the candle on a stable surface and avoid moving it while it's burning, as this can cause the wax to pool unevenly and the wick to bend or shift off-center.

Store the candle properly: Store the candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain its integrity.

By following these steps, you should be able to correct and improve your candle's wick condition for a better and safer burning experience.
