On most Frigidaire washing machines, the pump is at the bottom of the cabinet. The Family Handyman recommends tilting a washer on its side, after the power supply is disconnected, to access the pump underneath. The pump is often the plastic component with two hoses attached. Behind it you should see a rubber-ringed seal and a pulley mechanism or arm that operates the pump. Feel around the pump for wetness. If it’s dripping water, replace it.
The pump seal is supposed to keep water from penetrating the pump. If water is dripping from the pump than it's also likely dripping from a broken pump seal, and vice versa. Even if you only see water dripping from the seal, chances are that water has made its way to the pump and also damaged it; the effects might not be apparent yet. It’s rare that the pump can be salvaged by just replacing a worn seal. Contact Frigidaire to have a technician replace the pump and the seal to ensure the job is done right.
One or both of the two pump hoses on a Frigidaire washing machine can spring a leak and drip water. Feel the length of each hose for holes or cracks. If you feel any wetness on the outside of a hose, replace it. Obtain a replacement hose from an appliance store that sells Frigidaire washer parts or contact Frigidaire directly to order a new hose. Loosen the clamps that hold the hose in place and remove it. Insert the new hose and tighten the clamps.
If you can’t determine where water is leaking by looking underneath the washer, check inside the cabinet. Frigidaire washing machines have a drain hose that’s connected to the basket and drain outlet that leads to the pump area. It’s possible that the drain hose is dripping water, either because one of its connections is loose or because the hose ruptured. Remove the screws that hold the washer's top cover and remove it. You’ll find the drain hose next to the washtub. Replace the hose if you find that it’s damaged.
