How to Disassemble a Cabrio Washer

The Whirlpool Cabrio top-loading washing machine has several wash cycles and optional features. Most of the time, the washer should work well with standard maintenance and care, but occasionally problems may occur with some of the internal components, such as the motor, belt, pulley or pump. Accessing the internal parts of the washer will require taking the washer apart, but never undertake this task if you are not comfortable with your ability to disassemble or reassemble the machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect power from the Cabrio washing machine. Turn off the hot and cold water valves.

    • 2

Find the screws on each side of the console, and remove them with a Phillips screwdriver. The screws are on the front of each end cap, on the right and left side of the console. Pull forward on the console, and lift up until the tabs on the bottom of the end caps release from the holes on the top panel.

    • 3

Pull up on the console, and flip the console back until it is resting on the hinges. Disconnect the harness plug from the connector, pulling at the connector point and not on the harness itself.

Place the blade of a flat head screwdriver under the clip on both sides of the top of the washing machine, and pull back to release the clip. Slide the opposite end of each clip down and out of the slot located on the rear panel.

Lift up the lid, and hold it open while you tilt the cabinet forward, using caution that the back edge of the cabinet clears the vacuum break. Continue to tilt the cabinet forward until the tabs on the back and front of the cabinet release from the slots. You may need help moving the cabinet aside, as it is heavy.
