Turn off your GE washer. Disconnect the washer from its power source by either unplugging it or cutting the power at the circuit breaker.
Release the main top of the washer from its clips, using a prying tool. Do the same for the front panel.
Unsnap the green part of the rod from the bottom of the washer’s tub. Hold the plastic rod support in one hand and grip the top of the rod in the other hand. Move the rod support away from the hole in the frame and lift the rod all the way out of the hole with your other hand.
Slide the replacement rod through the hole. Slide the plastic rod support into place so that it doesn’t fall all the way through. Attach the bottom part to the tub by clicking it into place.
Use the clips to snap the front panel and the top of the washer back into place. Restore power to the GE washer.
