How to Clean Jenn-Air Radiant Cooktops

The ceramic glass on your Jenn-Air cooktop covers its radiant elements to provide a smooth cooking surface. The sealed surface can reduce time spent cleaning since a spill remains on the surface and cannot fall beneath the burner, as often happens with exposed elements. The Jenn-Air radiant cooktop might take less effort when it comes to cleanup, but you must use products designed specifically to clean a ceramic glass cooktop to avoid damaging its surface.

  1. General Cleaning

    • 1

Wipe the surface of your Jenn-Air radiant cooktop with a damp sponge or cloth after each use. Dry the surface with a soft, clean towel to avoid streaks and stains. Wear gloves to protect your hands from the hot surface if applicable.

    • 2

Apply 2 to 4 drops of ceramic cooktop cleaner to a cool Jenn-Air cooktop every two or three days. Use a paper towel to scrub the surface of the cooktop with the cleaner to remove grease and grime.

Wipe the surface with a soft cloth to remove the ceramic cooktop cleaner residue.

    Baked-on Soups and Sauces

    • 4

Turn off the Jenn-Air cooktop and allow it to cool.

    • 5

Hold a ceramic cooktop or razor scraper at a 20- to 30-degree angle against the cooktop surface. Scrape the baked-on soup or sauce from the cooktop. Wipe the residue from the surface with a paper towel.

    • 6

Apply 1 or 2 drops of ceramic cooktop cleaner to the area. Scrub the surface with a nonabrasive scrubber sponge until you remove the burned-on soup or sauce residue. Apply an additional 1 to 2 drops of cooktop cleaner if necessary.

    • 7

Wipe the surface with a clean cloth until any remaining cooktop cleaner residue disappears.

    Baked-on Candy, Jelly or Syrup

Turn on the Jenn-Air burner beneath the baked-on spill to warm the surface.

Wipe the residue from the edge of the scraper between scrapes. Wear gloves to protect your hands from the warm surface to avoid an accidental burn.
