Your control panel normally goes to sleep on your GE Profile Spacemaker when you are not using it. Select the "Home" button to wake up the control panel. Completely close the door, then press "Start" to begin cooking your food. Verify that the power cord fits firmly into the plug. Try unplugging and plugging in your microwave in the event of a power surge. If the microwave still won't start, examine your home fuses or circuit breaker. Turn back on the circuit breaker if tripped, and replace any blown fuses. If the microwave still won't start, you may have an issue with an internal component. Contact GE for service.
The "Control Is Locked" error code shows on the microwave display when you lock the control pad. To unlock the pad, hold down the "Off" button for approximately three seconds. Moisture commonly appears on the walls and door of the oven and between the oven door panels. Remove the moisture with either a cloth rag or a paper towel.
The carousel is the grooved plastic component in the center of your microwave. The turntable fits into these grooves and rotates your food while it's cooking. If the turntable isn't moving, clean the floor of the microwave, the carousel and the base of the turntable. Verify that you have correctly positioned the turntable in the carousel grooves. If the turntable still won't move, unplug the microwave, and remove the floor of the microwave and carousel. Examine the carousel motor. If it issues a burning electrical smell or if it won't turn, replace it.
Sparking occurs when you use cookware with metal components or tin foil in your microwave. If you see sparks, stop the microwave and remove the item that contains metal. Arcing occurs when food or liquids build up inside your microwave. The particles keep cooking every time that you use the microwave, causing burn spots on the waveguide or interior. Replace the waveguide if it is burnt. Sand down interior burn spots with sandpaper. Paint over the area with microwave-safe paint. Always clean up spills as soon as they happen.
