How to Troubleshoot the GHDA960K03WW

The GHDA960KWW is a middle-of-the-line, built-in dishwasher from GE with an electronic control panel and five dishwasher cycles. It is no longer being manufactured, but GE does still provide support in the form of telephone customer service, parts replacement and repair. In addition, most problems -- especially those relating to still-dirty dishes -- can easily be resolved manually at home.

Instructions

  1. Dishes Still Dirty

    • 1

Press the "Start/Reset" button again if you accidentally press it between cycles and the indicator light begins flashing. Note that you only have 90 seconds before the dishwasher finishes draining, after which you will have to manually start the cycle from the very beginning.

    • 2

Turn on the closest faucet to the dishwasher and run it until it gets steaming hot if you experience low inlet water temperature. This will ensure that the water entering the dishwasher is hot.

    • 3

Check the speed of water flow from a nearby faucet if you suspect water pressure problems. If the water is flowing slowly, then wait until the pressure returns to normal before starting your dishwasher.

    • 4

Ensure that your large dishes are not blocking the detergent dispenser or the washing arms. Also, check to see whether the air gap or the disposer are clogged.

    • 5

Consider using a rinse agent such as Jet-Dry or Cascade Crystal Clear to prevent the buildup of film, not to mention spots on your glasses and flatware.

    • 6

Try using the Pots & Pans cycle setting if your dishes keep coming out dirty. Another option is to empty out the dishwasher, pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the bottom and run the dishwasher through a full cycle.

    Miscellaneous

    • 7

Enter commands more quickly if the control panel lights dim while you are in the middle of setting controls. This comes about as the result of taking longer than 30 seconds to submit an additional command in a sequence of commands.

    • 8

Close and latch the door if the dishwasher begins beeping every 30 seconds. This is merely a reminder that the door has been left ajar.

    • 9

Reposition the dishes so that the water can flush the detergent cup if there is still detergent left in it after the cycle completes.

    • 10

Check whether your sink disposer is clogged if there is still water left in the dishwasher after a cycle completes. Keep in mind that a tiny bit of clean water will always be at the bottom, so as to keep the seal lubricated.

    • 11

Ensure that you have selected the "HEATED DRY" option if your dishes are not dry after the cycle completes. Also, consider using a more powerful cycle, such as "HOT START" or "HOT WASH."

    • 12

Check your fuse and circuit breaker if the dishwasher won't run. Also, ensure all the wall switches in the room are turned on, as the dishwasher's power may be tied to it.

    • 13

Restart the control panel if it starts to malfunction by powering down the dishwasher for 30 to 60 seconds, and then turning it back on.
