My Asko Dishwasher Is Leaking From the Base

Asko-brand dishwashers include features such as variable temperature settings, delayed start, a time saver and quick wash function, a self-cleaning triple filtration system and a water level sensor. Since the dishwasher's many features are centered on water use, when water leaks out around the base of the dishwasher, some inspection and investigation is necessary to determine what the problem is.
  1. Detergent Use

    • Asko recommends the use of an unscented, granular-type automatic dishwasher detergent for best wash performance. The use of other types of detergent, including any non-automatic dishwasher detergent, creates an oversudsing situation that may cause water to leak out of the bottom of the dishwasher. Use fresh detergent and measure according to the product directions. Select a “Normal Wash” cycle without adding any detergent to rinse and dissolve any remaining soap and drain the water from the tub.

    Rinse Aid Use

    • While rinse aid detergent is useful in drying dishes and preventing spotting or cloudiness on dishes and glasses, using too much rinse aid or spilling rinse aid in the dishwasher can cause oversudsing and leaks. Clean up any spills as soon as possible and latch the rinse aid dispenser door firmly to prevent the rinse aid from dispensing too soon during the wash cycle.

    Door Seal

    • As time passes, the seal on a dishwasher door can get hard and may even crack. This allows water to pass through and leak onto the floor. Examine and clean the door gasket with a damp cloth, then dry it with a towel for a better seal. If there is damage to the gasket, contact Asko for replacement or repair.

    Dishwasher Level

    • Water may also leak out of the bottom of the dishwasher if the unit is not level. Use a wrench to adjust the feet on the front of the washer to make changes if the dishwasher is clearly not even. If you cannot access the adjusting feet or are not sure if the dishwasher is even or not, contact a professional for assistance.
