How to Fix Intake Drain on Miele Incognito Dishwasher

Unplug the dishwasher and move it away from the wall for better access to the inlet and drainpipes. Turn the hot and cold water shut-off valves to the positions marked "Closed," and unscrew the hoses using a pair of pliers, if necessary. Inside each hose is a metal filter screen; pry it out and clean it in a sink of warm water, making sure to remove any debris. If the screen has scaled up, treat it with descaler overnight before replacing.

Open the dishwasher and pull out the lower rack to gain access to the triple filter system. Located in the bottom of the dishwasher below the lower spray arm, the triple filter stops waste material washed off dishes from entering the drain. To remove, twist the handle and lift out. Clean the filter in the sink with a gentle cloth, removing any food scraps or crusty dried accumulations. Miele suggests cleaning the filter every four to six months.

Look in the area below where the triple filter used to sit: This is where the nonreturn valve and drain pump sit. Remove the nonreturn valve by flipping the metal clasp to the left and pulling upward. Rinse the valve under running water to clean any debris, and place it to one side. The spinning paddle beneath the nonreturn valve marks the entrance to the drain pump. Pick out any debris sitting in this area before reassembling the nonreturn valve and triple filter.

Place the filter screens back inside the water inlet pipes and screw them back onto the shut-off valves. Switch the water supply back on, and check that there are no kinks or twists in any of the pipes. Be careful not to cause a kink when you push the appliance back into position.
