Gather your ingredients:
- Castile Soap: 1/2 cup
- Washing Soda: 1 cup
- Citric Acid: 1/2 cup
- Epsom Salt: 1/4 cup
- Water: 1/4 cup
- Essential Oil (Optional): A few drops for fragrance (such as lemon or lavender)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the molds: You will need a silicone ice cube tray or any other mold with small compartments to form the pods. Make sure the molds are clean and dry.
2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Castile soap, washing soda, citric acid, and Epsom salt. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
3. Add the water and essential oil: Slowly add the water to the dry ingredients while stirring constantly. Stir until a thick paste forms. If the mixture is too dry, add a little more water. If it's too wet, add a bit more dry ingredients.
4. Add essential oil (optional): If desired, add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture. This is optional and can be skipped.
5. Fill the molds: Scoop the mixture into the molds, pressing it down firmly to fill each compartment. Make sure the pods are packed tightly.
6. Freeze or let dry: Place the filled molds in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until completely frozen. Alternatively, you can let them air dry for several hours instead of freezing.
7. Remove from the molds: Once the pods are frozen or dry, remove them from the molds. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
To use the dishwashing pods, simply place one pod in the detergent compartment of your dishwasher. The pod will dissolve in the water and release the cleaning agents.
Note: These dishwashing pods are suitable for most dishwashers. However, if your dishwasher requires special detergent pods, please refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
Enjoy clean dishes while feeling good about using a natural and eco-friendly alternative to conventional dishwashing detergents.
