How to Bypass a Hunter Internal Light Dimmer

Hunter is a well-established name in the ceiling fan industry. Most of these fans either come with or offer a provision for lighting, with the added feature of dimming. Most ceiling fans require a re-wire to bypass the internal dimming function of the light, preventing external wall dimmers or a pull chain from dimming light intensity. However, Hunter allows this feature on a convenient switch, located on the unit's remote control.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide off the battery compartment of the unit's remote control. Pop out the 9-volt battery inside the remote.

    • 2

Locate the four-tab control dip switches and the "CFL/INC" switch.

    • 3

Slide the switch inside the remote control to the "CFL" position. This prevents the controller or the light itself from dimming florescent-style bulbs. However, this feature allows use of conventional bulbs even with the switch in this position.

    • 4

Slide the 9-volt battery back into the controller. Return the battery and switch cover onto the remote.
