TCOM Freon Types

TCOM Freon is referred to as CFCs, or chlorofluorocarbons. These are used in commercial and residential air conditioner units to cool the air inside homes and buildings. There is a variety of versions of Freon, and the type of Freon used on a system is determined by the machine.
  1. CFC R11

    • CFC R11 is commonly used in centrifugal chillers because it has the ability to cool large amounts of water. Chillers are commonly found in grocery stores, restaurants, and industrial companies to keep food or chemical compounds cool. This Freon can give off a slight odor if exposed in the air.

    CFC R12

    • CFC R12 is a Freon used with small air conditioner units. This is typically found in window units or self-containment units. This Freon is also used in automobile air conditioning systems. This is not used for industrial cooling or refrigerator systems.

    CFC R114

    • CFC R114 is used in positive pressure chillers for industrial cooling. This compound is typically found in industrial complexes or manufacturing factories. R114 is used in this environment because it cuts down on corrosion for samples. This is also used because it has the ability to maintain the low vapor pressure on chemical samples.

    CFC R500

    • CFC R500 is an azeotropic substance. This means that the compound is made up of two or more Freon types. This type of Freon is used because it can be manipulated for high pressure of low pressure inside a unit. This is typically used in dehumidifiers for industrial processes.
