How to Discharge a Pressure Regulator

Pressure regulators are used on air compressors to regulate how much pressure is going through the system. Different extensions are typically connected to the air compressor for insertion into tires, basketballs, and other items. The pressure regulator allows you to discharge the amount of pressure per square inch (psi) in the system. Discharging a pressure regulator is a relatively simple procedure.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the air compressor into the wall outlet.

    • 2

Turn on the air compressor from the power switch.

    • 3

Turn the pressure regulator switch all the way to the right so it charges.

    • 4

Attach the tool extension to the air compressor.

    • 5

Check the recommended psi from the manual that came with the tool’s packaging.

    • 6

Turn the air compressor’s regulator clockwise to discharge the pressure down to the recommended psi.
