- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pliers
- Tape measure
- Scissors
Instructions:
1. Safety First: Disconnect the recliner from the power source and ensure it is in a stable, upright position.
2. Locate the Popped Spring: Inspect the recliner's mechanism to find the popped spring. It is usually located near the footrest or the seat area.
3. Remove the Old Spring: Use the pliers to carefully remove the popped spring from its housing. Be mindful of any sharp edges.
4. Measure the Spring: Use the tape measure to determine the length of the old spring. This measurement will help you select the correct replacement spring from the kit.
5. Insert the New Spring: Choose the replacement spring that matches the length of the old spring. Insert the new spring into the housing and secure it in place by pressing down on both ends.
6. Reattach the Housing: Reattach the housing containing the new spring to the recliner frame using the screws and screwdriver provided in the repair kit.
7. Test the Recliner: Reconnect the recliner to the power source and operate it to ensure the spring is functioning correctly.
8. Trim Excess Fabric (if needed): If there is excess fabric covering the repaired area, carefully trim it with scissors, ensuring not to damage the recliner's upholstery.
Note: If the popped spring is a part of a complex mechanism, it is best to consult with a professional furniture repair technician or contact Berkline customer service for assistance.
