How to Make a Swinging Hammock Chair

### Materials

* 2 wooden boards (1x6 inch, 6 feet long)

* 2 wooden dowels (1 inch diameter, 3 feet long)

* 1 piece of fabric (5 feet wide, 6 feet long)

* 4 sturdy bolts (1 inch long)

* 4 nuts (1 inch)

* 4 washers (1 inch)

* Rope or chain (10 feet long)

* 2 heavy-duty carabiners

* Drill

* Saw

* Measuring tape

* Pencil

Instructions

1. Cut the wooden boards to the desired length.

2. Drill four holes in each board, evenly spaced along the length of the board. The holes should be large enough to fit the dowels through.

3. Insert the dowels into the holes in the boards.

4. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, then fold it again in half lengthwise.

5. Sew the fabric together along the long edges, leaving a 1-inch seam allowance.

6. Turn the fabric right side out.

7. Fold the top edge of the fabric down 1 inch and sew it in place.

8. Insert the dowels into the folded edge of the fabric.

9. Thread the rope or chain through the holes at the top of the fabric and tie it in a knot.

10. Attach the carabiners to the ends of the rope or chain and hang the hammock chair from a sturdy support.

Tips

* Choose a sturdy fabric that is weatherproof and will hold up to wear and tear.

* Make sure the dowels are securely inserted into the fabric.

* Tie the rope or chain in a knot that will not slip.

* Hang the hammock chair from a sturdy support that can hold the weight of the person using it.
