How to Paint an Ombre Effect on Upcycled Chair

## Materials:

- Chair (either wood or metal)

- Paint in two or more colors (for an ombre effect)

- Paintbrushes

- Painter's tape

- Drop cloth

Instructions:

1. Prepare the chair. Remove any cushions, hardware, and trim. If the chair is made of wood, sand it smooth. If the chair is made of metal, clean it with a degreaser and let it dry completely.

2. Apply painter's tape. Use painter's tape to mark off the areas that you don't want to paint, such as the seat and the legs.

3. Paint the base color. Paint the entire chair with the lightest color of paint. Let it dry completely.

4. Apply a second coat of paint. If necessary, apply a second coat of the base color. Let it dry completely.

5. Paint the ombre effect. Start by painting a stripe of the darkest color of paint at the bottom of the chair. Then, paint a stripe of the next lightest color of paint over the first stripe, blending the two colors together. Repeat this process until you reach the top of the chair. Let it dry completely.

6. Remove the painter's tape. Remove the painter's tape from the chair.

7. Seal the paint. Apply a clear sealant to the chair to protect the paint. Let it dry completely.

8. Reassemble the chair. Put the cushions, hardware, and trim back on the chair.

Your ombre-painted chair is now ready to enjoy!
