How to Wire with Teradyne

Teradyne is the name of a U.S. technology manufacturer that specializes in automatic test equipment. Originally founded in 1960, the company started out selling diode testers and multimeters. It now primarily builds test equipment for weapon-system platforms and commercial aerospace electronics systems. Teradyne also manufactures software and electronic components, including semiconductor devices such as diodes. These components are wired, or installed, onto printed circuit boards (PCB). The same guidelines and methods for wiring and installing other semiconductors also apply to Teradyne components.

Things You'll Need

  • Soldering iron
  • Printed circuit board
  • Wire strippers
  • Rosin-core solder

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the soldering iron in and allow it to rest on its metal stand while it heats up.

    • 2

Inspect the wire leads on the Teradyne component. If they appear to be too long for the application or installation onto the PCB, trim the leads with a pair of wire strippers.

    • 3

Insert the wire ends of the Teradyne component into the circuit holes on the PCB and flip the PCB over in order to access its bottom.

    • 4

Hold the solder just above the semiconductor end and then melt a small dab of solder onto it. Do the same to solder the other wire lead.
