How to Troubleshoot the Husqvarna 155BT Blower

Husqvarna is a Swedish manufacturer of small arms, sewing machines, motorcycles and lawn equipment. Among the numerous lawn tools Husqvarna makes, the 155BT Power Blower is a "backpack blower" for residential and commercial use. Like all other units with small engines, the Husqvarna 155BT is subject to a few common problems that can be fixed by most novices. You only need a couple of tools to fix your Husqvarna 155BT.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

Change the fuel-oil mix. Fuel begins to sharply degrade after a 30-day period. After 60 days, any small engine with a gasoline/2-cycle oil mix will have problems cycling the mixture through the engine. If the blower will not start or stay running, this is a likely cause. Drain your Husqvarna 155BT and replace it with the recommended gas/2-cycle oil mixture.

Replace the air filter. If your Husqvarna 155BT runs roughly or seems to "choke-out" after being started, it could be the air filter. Go to a local hardware or garden and lawn equipment supply store and purchase an air filter for your Husqvarna 155BT. Open the air filter cover with your hands and examine it. If it is black or a dark gray, replace it with a new one. The air filter keeps harmful debris from entering the engine.

Change the fuel filter in your Husqvarna 155BT. Look at the blower's fuel filter. Check it for obstructions and/or leaks. If fuel leaks out or does not flow through the fuel filter, the engine will not run after starting. The fuel filter keeps containments out of the gas-oil mix, allowing the engine to combust the fuel. Pull the old fuel filter off with pliers and put a new one on.

Replace the spark plug. If your Husqvarna 155BT runs roughly or will not start even with a good fuel, air filter and fuel filter, the spark plug is probably bad. The spark plug ignites the fuel to make the engine run. Pull the cap off the spark plug and use a socket wrench to unfasten the spark plug. Screw in a new spark plug and start the engine.
