Year-round planting is acceptable in most parts of Florida because of the warm temperatures. Lush, green lawns can be produced.
In north Florida, zoysia grass may suffer from the cold winters. Plant the grass in the spring or summer so the seedlings can take advantage of the rainy season and strengthen before winter sets in.
Give zoysia seed sufficient water to help it grow in the Florida heat. Morning watering will give the grass a reserve to deal with the day ahead. Keep the seed continuously moist but not soaking wet. Water it two to three times a day for about two weeks.
