How to Write Your Name in Cement

Nothing appeals to a kid more than wet cement. It seems to beckon to them, asking for a name to be written on its wet surface. A kid sees the opportunity to have his or her name be recorded for eternity. Provide the opportunity at home where the family can do it in a controlled project and treasure the memento of a childhood.

Instructions

    • 1

Use an aluminum baking pan for your mold. Spray it with cooking spray. This will allow the cement to be released from the mold easily after it has hardened. Place the mold on a level work surface covered with newspapers.

    • 2

Mix your cement in a bucket according to directions. It should resemble thick mud.

    • 3

Pour your cement into the mold. It should reach about 1/2 inch below the rim.

    • 4

Give your child a sturdy twig and instruct him to write his name in the cement. The letters need to be inscribed deeply enough so they do not fill in with cement. If mistakes are made, simply smooth the surface with a putty knife and do it again.

Allow your cement project to dry in a protected space away from rain. Remove it from the mold after it has dried for two days.
