How to Clean Concrete Yard Ornaments

Concrete, while long-lasting and attractive material for lawn ornaments, can become dirty and stained over time, reducing the appeal of the ornament and your yard as a whole. Fortunately, you can clean concrete with common tools and household supplies. A power washer is also helpful for this process. Once the ornament is clean, consider applying a concrete sealer that forms a protective coating on your yard ornament.

Instructions

    • 1

Sweep any loose debris off the yard ornament, using the broom. You want to remove dry debris before washing to prevent it from becoming mud.

    • 2

Scrub the concrete with soapy water, using the soft scrub brush. Use a toothbrush to get into any nooks and crannies.

    • 3

Treat grease, paint and rust stains with a commercial cleansing product. Allow the product to soak into the stain for 15 to 30 minutes.

    • 4

Use a power washer to give the ornament a final wash, removing any residual cleaning products. The high-powered jet of water will not be enough to damage the concrete but will blast away any stubborn debris.

    • 5

      Allow the concrete to dry.
