How to Put Together a Combo Leaf Bagger

Combination leaf baggers are collection systems mounted to the back of riding mowers. Combination baggers are used to bag clippings but are removable if the owner wishes to mulch leaves or pine straw. Typical combination bagging systems consist of two bags mounted to a bracket on the rear of the mower. A hollow tube runs from the mower's side chute and empties into bags wrapped in grass-catcher covers. Although the process is similar for most models, installation may vary depending on the brand of bagger and riding mower, so read the operator’s manual carefully before installing.

Instructions

    • 1

Read the owner's manual completely and check to make sure all parts and installation hardware are accounted for.

    • 2

Park the mower on a flat, even surface and engage the emergency brake.

    • 3

Pull the hairpin clip and clevis pin out from mounting bracket. Align the mounting bracket with the mower's hitch plate and then slide the clevis pin through them both. Insert the hairpin clip through the clevis pin to secure it.

    • 4

Slip the side of the support tube, which is mounted on the grass-catcher lid, through the hole on the side of the mounting bracket assembly. The top of the support tube will rest on the top of the mounting bracket assembly.

    • 5

Hang the top of the two bags from the metal slots on the top support tube and then close the grass-catcher lid.

    • 6

Raise the cutting deck to the highest level.

    • 7

Slide the two halves of the chute tube together and then clasp the rubber strap to the notch to hold them together. Slide the back end of the tube through the hole in the back of the grass-catcher lid.

    • 8

Raise the chute deflector on the mower and then line up the bottom of the chute tube to the chute. Fasten the chute tube to the chute by clipping the ends of the attached rubber straps through the holes on the mower chassis.
