Liquid Turf Builder 2 Will Not Spray

Scotts Liquid Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control fertilizes your lawn and controls weeds. The sprayer does not have a handle for spraying the product directly from the bottle, but rather the bottle is designed to be attached to a hose for application with water. A common complaint is that the solution will not spray from the bottle. Follow a few easy tips and you should be able to get your product working.
  1. Check the Tab

    • After connecting the bottle to the sprayer and turning on the water, turn the Scotts Liquid Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control sprayer on by bending the small, yellow tab near the dial back away from the dial. This will release the dial so you can rotate it clockwise to the 'on' position. This can be difficult, especially the first time the bottle is used. When the product begins feeding out of the bottle, you will smell it. The level in the bottle will decrease as you apply it to your lawn.

    Optimize Water Pressure

    • Scotts recommends applying the product with a water pressure of at least 40 pounds per square inch (psi). You can test the water pressure coming from your spigot with an inexpensive pressure gauge purchased at your local hardware store. To optimize pressure, Scotts recommends using a hose 50 feet long or shorter. Before connecting the hose to the sprayer, check inside the hose fitting for obstructions, and the nozzle of the sprayer for debris that might be clogging it.

    Feeds Grass and Kills Weeds

    • Scotts Liquid Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control is a liquid fertilizer for use on grass lawns, such as bahiagrass. It should not be used on St. Augustine grass and other species listed on the label. It contains 25 percent nitrogen to green up lawns, 1 percent phosphorous and 2 percent potassium. It also contains an herbicide to control a variety of broadleaf weeds including clover.

    Precautions

    • When working with this product, you should wear chemical-resistant gloves, and wear long sleeves and pants to cover all exposed skin. Do not apply it via an irrigation system. Avoid spraying this product near bodies of water because it is harmful to aquatic life. To prevent drift onto yourself, or surroundings bodies of water, spray on a still day. Do not use this product when rain is expected because it can wash into storm drains and cause algal blooms that are harmful to fish.
