Unplug the AeroGarden and unhook the bowl from its base.
Take off the grow surface piece and set it in a sink or on a towel.
Place the water inside the bowl into a baking dish so that covers the bottom inch of the dish. Pour the rest of the water into another bowl.
Take out the seed pods from the grow surface piece and set them in a container full of water so that the roots are submerged.
Take out the filter from the pump tower and wash it under clean water or get a new filter.
Flip over the grow surface and take off the cover plate.
Stick a flat-head screwdriver into the two slots on either side of the pump tower and push down to dislodge the pump.
Remove the pump wire from its base but make sure it stays attached to the grow surface piece.
Wash the pump and pump tower in the sink with clean water.
Remove the face plate from the pump with a flat-head screwdriver or flat knife. Wash the face plate.
Use a pair of tweezers to pry off the impeller cover from the pump.
Pour some liquid dish soap into the impeller hole.
Reinstall the face plate, impeller cover and impeller.
Place the pump back into the pump tower.
Put the grow surface piece into the AeroGarden bowl right-side up. Put the bowl on its base and plug in the AeroGarden.
Let the pump run for three minutes and then unplug it again. Disassemble the pump parts and rinse everything off.
Turn the face plate dial to 2.
Put your AeroGarden back together.
