How to Build a Garden Pond in Tub

Materials

* A large plastic tub (at least 3 feet in diameter and 18 inches deep)

* A liner (cut to fit the tub)

* Rocks (various sizes)

* Gravel (for drainage)

* Potting soil

* Pond plants

* Water

Instructions

1. Drill holes in the bottom of the tub for drainage. This will help prevent the water from becoming stagnant and breeding mosquitoes.

2. Put the liner in the tub. This will protect the tub from the roots of the plants and help to keep the water from evaporating.

3. Add rocks to the bottom of the tub. The rocks will help to weigh down the liner and protect it from being torn.

4. Add gravel to the tub around the rocks. The gravel will help to improve drainage and prevent the water from becoming stagnant.

5. Add potting soil to the tub. The potting soil will provide nutrients for the plants and help to support them.

6. Plant the pond plants in the tub. Be sure to choose plants that are suitable for the conditions in your area.

7. Add water to the tub. Fill the tub about halfway with water. Be careful not to overfill the tub, as the water may cause the liner to float up.

8. Enjoy your new garden pond!

Tips

* To keep the water in your pond clean, you can add a water filter or bubbler.

* You can also add fish to your pond, but be sure to choose fish that are compatible with the plants in your pond.

* If you live in an area with a cold climate, you will need to protect your pond from freezing in the winter. You can do this by covering the pond with a tarp or plastic sheet.
