Instructions

    • 1

Chose how long you want the bench to be. Pick either 4, 6 feet long and cut the 2X6 to match how long you want the bench to be.

    • 2

The with of the bench should be 18, to 20 inches. Cut 2X6's to match if the legs are attached on the inside rather then the outside, you place the shorter 2X6's on the inside of the longer pieces. This way end grain doesn't show from the front of back.

    • 3

Attach each end to the front and back using nails, where the end grain of the sides is covered by the front and back of the bench

    • 4

Cut four legs from the remaining 2X6's, to a height of 17 inches, could also be 18, but 17 inches is a little above the standard height. Fasten each leg on the inside of the front and back, width facing forward, in the corners and one in the center if over six feet long.

Take 1X2 and lay out along the outer edge of the entire bench. Once fastened into place, take the remain 1X2's and cut into strips to fit within the edging you just made. Space the strips about 1 to 2 inches apart.
