Instructions

    • 1

Find a chair. You can pick one up free at recycling areas, on the side of the road, garage sales or even your garage or basement. Chairs can have solid wooden seats, slats or a removable padded seat.

    • 2

Turn the chair over and remove the seat by unfastening the screws with a screwdriver, as appropriate.

    • 3

Measure around the flower pot just under the lip. Draw a circle the same diameter in the center of a wooden chair seat. Drill a hole along the line adequate to fit the blade of your jigsaw. Cut out the circle with your jigsaw.

    • 4

Insert a flowerpot with a lip that sits on the edges of the seat framing, if you have removed the seat, or the hole you cut. If you can't find one that fits, make one out of chicken wire lined and staple it to the opening.

Fill with potting soil. Add a balanced, slow-release fertilizer if one is not include in your potting mix.

    • 6

Add a mix of plants. Keep in mind shade or sun plants depending on the location you will display your chair.

    • 7

Put your new garden ornament in place and water well.
