Garden Fairies

Gnomes

• Garden gnomes can be the perfect enchanted garden gift. In Germanic lore, gnomes are generally described as gnarled, bearded old men who, if treated well, protected the garden and its inhabitant, according to the University of Arizona. Immortalized into statues, modern gnomes add a bright accent to any garden with their blue shirts and red pointy caps. These garden statues usually arrive posed, such as squatting under a toadstool, holding a pipe, napping and fishing.

• Gazing balls, also called gazing globes, are orb-shaped balls covered in a reflective coating. Originally created to scare away evil spirits and witches, gazing balls are made of glass, stainless steel and ceramic, and used in gardens as decorations. Commonly decorated with gnomes and fairies, gazing balls can be attached to tall stakes, displayed on ceramic statues or be placed in birdbaths.
