  1. Capital District Garden and Flower Show

    • This annual early spring show, held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, features garden and landscape exhibitors along with approximately 150 vendors. Among the show's highlights are flower-arranging demonstrations, winery exhibits, complimentary landscape designs by students studying the subject at the State University of New York at Cobleskill and various lectures. For a nominal fee, bring soil for testing by the Cornell Cooperative Extension. Free parking with shuttle service to the show is available.

    Rochester Flower Show

    • Get ready for spring at this late winter flower show, hosted by the Garden Scape Professionals Association, an organization for landscape, garden supply and professional nurserymen in the Rochester region. The Rochester Flower Show is held at the Dome Center south of Rochester. Kids can tour the Children's Garden exhibit and take home their own plant. Along with lectures and demonstrations, performances by local entertainers are featured throughout the show. A special benefit preview reception is held the day before the show's official opening.

    Syracuse Flower and Garden Show

    • Beat the winter with a dose of spring at the Syracuse Flower and Garden Show held at the city's Onocenter. The show includes display gardens, competition gardens and themed floral design competitions for professional florists. Attend educational seminars on horticulture, or take the kids to Children's Discovery Garden. The Artisan's Garden features paintings, photos and hand-made jewelery. Bring your wallet -- the show has over 100 vendors.
