How to Clean Patio Furniture Fabric

Remove the cushions from the furniture and lay them on a clean, flat surface to clean the fabric. Brush off the fabric with a soft scrub brush to remove loose debris and dirt.

Mix a cleaning solution in a bucket. Use 1 quart warm water and 1 tbsp. borax powder, or mix together 1/4 cup mild dish soap per gallon of warm water. Either cleaning solution will work well to clean the fabric.

Spot clean any stubborn stains prior to cleaning the entire fabric. Pour lemon juice directly onto the stains and allow it to dry. This will loosen the stains.

Dip a sponge or scrub brush into the bucket of cleaning solution. Scrub the fabric gently with the cleaning solution, cleaning both sides of the fabric. Avoid scrubbing too forcefully so as not to damage the fabric.

Fill a bucket with plain water. Scrub the fabric with a sponge and plain water to remove any cleaning solution and dirt residue.

Allow the fabric to dry completely in the sun. Pour white vinegar into a spray bottle and thoroughly spray the fabric with the vinegar. This will protect the fabric from future stains of mold and mildew.

Combine 2 parts baking soda and 1 part warm water into a bucket if the fabric is still dirty, or for an alternative cleaning method. Scrub the fabric with a scrub brush and the baking soda mixture to remove any remaining dirt. Rinse the fabric with plain water and allow it to dry in the sun. Spray with the vinegar solution to protect the fabric.
