Window Treatment Ideas for Large Triple Windows

Large windows can make a room feel more open and spacious than it actually is. However, if you own a home with large triple windows, you quite possibly know the challenges of finding window treatments that provide the look you are going for. The first thing you need to decide is whether you want to treat the large triple windows as three separate windows or one huge opening. This deciding factor can help you choose which type of window treatments will work best and which ones will not provide functionality and style.
  1. Vertical Blinds

    • Vertical blinds aren't just for sliding glass doors. If you choose to treat your large triple windows as one large opening, a vertical blind can provide the perfect window treatment choice. Verticals can open from either the left or right side of the window or even split in the middle so that the blind's vanes stack on both sides of the window. Vertical blinds come in many different color and texture choices, including fabric vanes, which can help define a room's decor.

    Valances

    • Another great treatment for large windows, whether treating them as a unit or separately, is a valance. If you choose to handle the three windows as one unit, the valance can give the semblance of one full component or can work separately over-top blinds or drapes to help break up the windows. Valances work well on large windows alone, if you would like to take advantage of the available light source, or with other window treatments, if you want privacy and light-blocking ability. Valances come in many different styles, such as balloon, swag or pleated, and colors that will complement or contrast your room decor

    Mini Blinds

    • Mini blinds present a great way to utilize your large separate windows as separate units. While you can hang mini blinds on each separate window, many blind companies offer three blinds on one head rail, which works well if each window does not have enough space to hang three individual blinds. Mini blinds come in metal and vinyl and in many different colors and textures. Blackout mini blinds can help keep light out of the room, if three large windows let in too much outside light.

    Draperies

    • Draperies remain a fashionable way to cover any window, even large triple windows. Draperies can hang individually above each solitary window by using individual curtain rods or decorative drapery rods and hardware. For a more combined look, draperies can hang on a traverse rod and flow completely across the entire three-window space. A traverse rod will allow you to open the curtain with a drawstring, similar to that of a vertical blind, pulling the drapes to one side or the other when you wish to open the drapes and expose the room to light. There are many different styles and designs of drapes to chose from that allow you to match the room's decor or even complement other window coverings such as mini blinds or valances.
