Child's Desk Ideas

Having a place for your child to do schoolwork or to paint and draw can be extremely important. This way she has her own space and work area. However, a child's desk does not have to be a standard desk or something that an adult would use. If a child has a desk that is uniquely hers it will encourage her to use it.
  1. Toy Desks

    • Toy desks that look like your child's favorite object or reflect his personality are available in a variety of options. For example, try an airplane desk, where the child sits where the pilot would be and the desk top is an upper wing. Or a princess house desk, where the attic of the house is the desk top and the cabinet is the doors of the house, with a matching chair. Some desks come in wavy shapes and fun colors. Others look like school buses, cars or are decorated as a sports desk.

    Collector Desk

    • A collector desk for your child can be any desk that he is already using, but with a few added touches. Stretch a rope above the desk with clothespins for your child to hang his work or pictures he has drawn. A shelf can be added above the desk or on the sides of the desk on the wall, for your child to place his favorite items, toys or anything else that he wants to keep and display.

    Painted Desk

    • Take a plain desk of any sort and paint it to match your child's preferences. For example, on a plain school desk style, paint a monster's face on the desk lid and paint the rest of the desk, such as the sides and legs, to match. Or let your child paint her own desk any way that she wishes, making it uniquely hers.
