- (4) 2x4s (8 feet long)
- (2) 1x6s (8 feet long)
- (1) 1/4-inch plywood sheet (4 feet x 8 feet)
- Wood stain (optional)
- Clear coat (optional)
Step 1: Cut the Wood
- Cut the 2x4s to the following lengths:
- (4) 30 inches long
- (4) 16 inches long
- Cut the 1x6s to the following lengths:
- (4) 28 inches long
- (4) 14 inches long
Step 2: Assemble the Table Base
- Arrange the four 30-inch 2x4s in a square, with the ends flush.
- Attach the 2x4s together using 2-inch wood screws, driven through the face of one board into the edge of the adjacent board.
- Repeat this process with the four 16-inch 2x4s to create a smaller square.
- Attach the two squares together using 2-inch wood screws, driven through the top of the smaller square into the bottom of the larger square.
Step 3: Assemble the Table Top
- Cut the plywood sheet to the following size:
- 28 inches x 28 inches
- Attach the plywood to the table base using 1-inch wood screws, driven through the face of the plywood into the top of the table base.
- Make sure the screws are countersunk so they do not protrude above the surface of the plywood.
Step 4: Attach the Trim
- Attach the 1x6s to the edges of the table top using 1-1/2 inch wood screws, driven through the face of the 1x6s into the edge of the plywood.
- Make sure the screws are countersunk so they do not protrude above the surface of the 1x6s.
Step 5: Sand and Finish
- Sand the entire table to smooth out any rough edges.
- Apply a coat of wood stain, if desired.
- Apply a coat of clear coat to protect the finish.
