How to Treat Fake Color on Leather Sofa

Painted leather can be a challenge because the paint fades over time to reveal the original leather material, which makes for an aged, undesirable look. Fortunately, it is not difficult to treat and re-color a painted leather sofa.

Things You'll Need

  • Natural soap

Instructions

    • 1

Put a dab of moisturizing, chemical-free soap on a soft, damp cloth and rub it in to create a light lather.

    • 2

Rub the damp cloth on the sofa. Be careful not to let too much water contact the leather.

    • 3

Wipe the lather off with a new damp cloth.

    • 4

Buff the leather with a dry towel. Let the sofa dry completely.

    • 5

Scoop out a small dollop of shoe polish (color match the sofa) with a soft, dry cloth. Rub it over the leather in a circular motion. Buff the leather with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
