* A wool sweater in a color you like (you can use leftover sweater or buy one from a thrift store)
* A pair of scissors
* A needle and thread
* A piece of felt (optional)
* A hot glue gun (optional)
1. Prepare the sweater.
- If your sweater has buttons or other embellishments, remove them before you begin.
- Turn the sweater inside out.
2. Cut out the beret piece.
- Using the scissors, cut the bottom portion off the sweater, leaving a circle intact.
- You can use a plate or bowl as a guide for cutting.
3. Sew the beret together.
- With the right sides together, sew the raw edge of the beret piece together, using a whip stitch or other sturdy stitch.
- Leave an opening at the top for turning.
- Trim any excess fabric.
4. Turn the beret right side out.
- Carefully turn the beret right side out, using a bodkin or other pointed tool to help push out the corners.
- Press flat.
5. (Optional) Add a felt lining.
- Cut a circle of felt to the same size as the beret.
- Glue the felt to the inside of the beret, using the hot glue gun.
6. Enjoy your new beret!
- Wear it as is or add your embellishments like a flower, brooch, or ribbon.
* Choose a sweater made of a wool or wool-blend fabric that will hold its shape.
* If you don't have a felting needle, you can use a tapestry needle or a large sewing needle.
* Be careful not to overstuff the beret, or it will lose its shape.
* Instead of using a sweater, you can use a piece of felt, a scarf, or a piece of fabric to make your beret.
* You can add a variety of embellishments to your beret, such as beads, sequins, or embroidery.
* You can make a beret in any size you like. Simply adjust the size of the circle you cut out when you are cutting out the beret piece.
