- Replacement ignitor
- Screwdriver
- Wire stripper
- Needle-nose pliers
- Safety glasses
1. Locate the circuit breaker that controls the furnace.
2. Flip the circuit breaker to the "Off" position.
1. Remove the screws that hold the ignitor in place.
2. Be careful not to drop the ignitor.
4. Remove the ignitor from the furnace.
1. Cut the wires of the new ignitor to the same length as the wires of the old ignitor.
2. Strip the ends of the wires.
1. Connect the white wire of the new ignitor to the white wire of the furnace.
2. Connect the red wire of the new ignitor to the red wire of the furnace.
3. Twist the ends of the wires together.
4. Secure the connections with wire nuts.
1. Place the new ignitor in the furnace.
2. Replace the screws that hold the ignitor in place.
3. Be sure that the ignitor is properly seated.
1. Flip the circuit breaker back to the "On" position.
1. Turn on the furnace.
2. The ignitor should glow red and ignite the gas burner.
1. Check the connections to make sure they are secure.
2. Check the ignitor to make sure that it is properly seated.
3. If the ignitor still does not work, it may be defective and will need to be replaced.
