Instructions

Place the molding on the miter saw so it is in an upside-down position. The top edge of the crown molding should rest against the miter saw table and the bottom edge of the crown molding should rest against the miter saw fence. Hold the crown molding in this position when you make any cuts to the molding.

Cut the angles for the outside corners of the molding. Set the miter saw to a 45-degree angle. Cut the crown molding to size. Cut the other side of the molding corner by setting the miter saw to the opposite 45-degree angle and cutting the second piece of crown molding to size.

Cut the angles for the inside corners of the crown molding. Set the miter saw to 0 degrees. Cut the crown molding on a square cut angle. This piece of the crown molding should butt directly against the wall. Cut the other side of the inside corner by setting the miter saw to a 45-degree angle. Cut the molding to size. Locate the leading edge of the molding and cut behind it with a coping saw. When you have finished the second piece of molding should fit the profile of the first side of the molding.
