1. Gather your tools. You will need a sharp pair of pruning shears or scissors, and a clean cloth.
2. Inspect the plant. Before trimming, examine the cast iron plant for any signs of damage or disease. Remove any dead, diseased, or damaged leaves.
3. Trim the leaves.Using the pruning shears or scissors, trim the leaves to the desired length and shape. Cut the leaves at an angle just above a node(the point where a new leaf or stem emerges from the main stem).
4. Clean the tools. After trimming, wipe down the pruning shears or scissors with a clean cloth to remove any plant debris. This will help prevent the spread of disease.
Tip: To encourage new growth, you can also trim the plant's rhizomes. To do this, carefully dig up the plant and divide the root ball into several smaller sections. Re-plant the sections in separate containers with fresh potting soil.
Regularly trimming your cast iron plant will help keep it healthy and looking its best.
